Hey guys,

"Launching you careers" was a great success Lauren and I were impress with the student's participation. We definitely would like to have another "Launching you Career"

Launching Your Careers for Seniors

Our office hosted an event for Drexel students preparing to enter the 'real world' and start their job search. They had the chance to meet young professionals from different fields and know more about their experience after college.

Professionals from PWC, KPMG, Susquehanna International LLC, Boeing Military Department and the Community Crossroads Peer Support Center came out for a panel discussion about post-graduation stresses and how to launch your career.

Atttendees heard how they navigated through the job search process and what it’s like to have a full time job beyond co‐op.

Pie Eating Contest

On Friday February 19th, our office hosted a Chocolate Pie Eating Contest in which Drexel students ate delicious pies as fast as they could for prizes! The event wrapped up the events hosted by CGTSPS in celebration of Valentine's Day.

Pool of Love

On Wednesday February 10th, the Commuter Pool Tournament continued Valentine's Day Week with the theme of "Pool of Love." Teams of two competed for prizes, and attendees enjoyed pizza!

Coffee Talk: Philosophy of Sex and Love

On Tuesday, February 9th, we hosted a Coffee Talk on the Philosophy of Sex and Love. Professor Alan Soble of the Philosophy department led the discussion in an informal, round-table manner.

Students had the chance to come listen, and share their own thoughts on what sex and love really mean in today's society. The event kicked off a week of Valentine's Day events hosted by CGTSPS.

LBGT Forum

On February 4th, the CGTSPS hosted a multicultural Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender panel discussion in the Hagerty Library. Among the speakers were Lee Carson of the Black Gay Men's Leadership Council, San Van of Queer Philadelphia Asians, Molic Harvey of the Trans Masculine Advocacy Network, Norman Medina of the Gay and Lesbian Latino AIDS Education Initiative, Robert Burns of COLOURS, Jaci Adams - an independent speaker, and Monet Hawkins of Beta Phi Omega, a lesbian sorority.

Speakers and students shared their thoughts on coming out, issues that members of the LGBT community face, and HIV/AIDS. The attendees also discussed the importance of changing laws to reflect the change society has had with relation to the LGBT community-- for instance, the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy and the ban on gay men giving blood.

The successful event brought a light to some of the problems that are often overlooked today. It also gave Drexel students an opportunity to hear first-hand stories of people like themselves, who have had to overcome some of the same challenges.
